How oak roots get into an Ojai sewer line, and how jetting gets them out
Much of Ojai sits under oak trees, and many of the older sewer laterals here are clay pipe with a joint every few feet. Roots follow the moisture to those joints, push in through hairline gaps, and grow into a mat that catches grease and paper.
A drain cleaning with a snake punches a hole through that mat, and the roots grow back thicker. A 4,000 PSI jetter with a root cutting head shaves the mat off the pipe wall and flushes it down to the street sewer, and the camera shows what is left.

Why does our water heater in Ojai wear out so fast?
Valley water is hard. The minerals drop out as scale and pile up inside the tank, where they rumble and keep the heat from reaching the water. Flushing once a year keeps that layer thin. Once a tank starts leaking, replacing it is the only fix.
