Older cast iron builds scale inside the pipe, and that rough surface grabs grease in the same spots. Snaking opens a hole. Hydro jetting strips the pipe back to its walls so the cycle stops, and a camera run after shows the pipe's real condition.
Hard water does not care about the build year. Scale settles on the tank bottom from day one, and over the years the unit works harder for less hot water. A flush can help. When it is time, we replace it.
Often it is a worn pressure regulator that lets house pressure climb. High pressure bangs pipes and wears out fixture seals. We test the pressure and replace the regulator if it has failed.
